The Orange, seen here celebrating a late goal against Louisville on March 31, scored six straight goals against the same side at the ACC Tournament.

Top-seeded Syracuse women’s lacrosse topped Louisville 17-8 in the ACC Tournament quarter-finals. After falling 3-2 seven minutes into the first quarter, the Orange went on a six-goal run to close the period.

With a five-goal lead headed into the second quarter, Syracuse never looked back.

Graduate attack Emma Tyrrell scored four goals and two assists to lead Syracuse to the win. Senior attack Emma Ward added a hat trick and assist, while graduate midfield Savannah Sweitzer and senior midfield Natalie Smith each finished the game with three points.

The Orange are back in action on Friday, where they will play the winner of Virginia and North Carolina in the semifinals. Syracuse beat both in the regular season.

Lampkin Jr. joins men’s basketball

Colorado starter Eddie Lampkin Jr. has signed with Syracuse men’s basketball, the team announced Monday. The 6-foot-11 center from Texas has one year left of eligibility.

Lampkin has made three appearances at the NCAA Tournament, two with Texas Christian and one with the Buffaloes. The big man gives the Orange size and rebounding; he had 11 double-digit rebounding outings with Colorado this past season.

Lampkin will look to help Syracuse return to March Madness for the first time since 2021.

Alyssa Latham transfers to Tennessee

All-ACC Freshman Team forward Alyssa Latham announced she is transferring to Tennessee over the weekend. Latham put her name in the NCAA transfer portal earlier this month.

The forward had a respectable freshman year for the Orange, averaging 8.6 points and 7 rebounds per game. She started over 80% of the team’s games and played more than 30 minutes in the squad’s two NCAA Tournament games.

Tennessee is one of the best programs in women’s college basketball. The school has made the last 42 NCAA Tournaments.

Track team sets 20 PRs on Friday

Syracuse track and field saw 20 personal records created at the Virginia Challenge and the Bobbi Palma Spring Classic.

Rylie Lusk, Eleanor Lawler, Paul O’Donnell, Savannah Roark, Madison Neuner, Emanuel Joseph, Taleea Buxton, Trei Thorogood and Beatriz Fernandes set PRs, among others.

In the Spring Classic, Syracuse had four of the top five spots in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Orange swept the top four spots in the women’s 1500-meter run and boasted seven of the nine top finishers.
