Women’s basketball head coach Felisha Legette-Jack was named the ACC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year. She’s the first Syracuse coach, men’s or women’s, to earn ACC Coach of the Year honors in the sport.

In her second year leading the program, Legette-Jack took the Orange to a 23-6 regular season record, 13-5 ACC record and the No. 3 seed in the Ally ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Other than Legette-Jack, graduate guard Dyaisha Fair earned first team All-ACC honors and was the runner up for the ACC Player of the Year award. Freshman forward Alyssa Latham earned a spot in the All-Freshman Team.

The Orange women’s basketball team continues the season in the ACC Tournament, where they earned a double-bye. They first play in the quarterfinals, on Friday.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

Men’s basketball ACC future uncertain

The Syracuse men’s basketball team is still uncertain of their seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament. A loss to Clemson on Tuesday made the Orange likely to fall out of the top four and lose a bye in the second round.

Still, their fate will remain unknown until Saturday, where the final round of ACC regular season basketball games will be played. Syracuse is not scheduled to play this weekend.

The ACC Men’s Basketball Tournament will be played at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. Games start on March 12.

Women’s lacrosse upset at the Dome

No. 5 Syracuse women’s lacrosse lost to No. 12 Stony Brook in overtime off Ellie Masera’s game-winner.

With the Seawolves up 12-11 and 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter, senior midfield Maddy Baxter scored to force the extra period, but Mesera won the draw and scored a winner to upset the home team.

The 13-12 defeat is the third of the season for Syracuse, matching last year’s total.

Head coach Kayla Treanor said the Orange did not play to their full potential and did not make Stony Brook pay when they got good looks at the net.

Syracuse next faces Virginia Tech on the road. Game is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.

Syracuse defensemen in NFL Combine

The NFL Combine concluded on Sunday, where Syracuse defensive back Isaiah Johnson participated and displayed his skills to all 32 teams.

Johnson was a starter at cornerback for the Orange for two years after joining the program as a transfer student from Dartmouth. Johnson was a team captain last season and was fifth in tackles with 62. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the team’s second-best defender.

Syracuse will host its Pro Day later this month before spring ball. The NFL Draft takes place from April 25-27.
