Over the weekend, Syracuse women’s lacrosse clobbered Virginia by a score of 21-9, improving its record to 13-0 on the year. Eight different players scored a goal for the Orange, including a combined 14 from Meaghan Tyrrell, Megan Carney and Emma Ward.

The undefeated record and the impressive play helped the team maintain the No. 1 ranking in the Inside Lacrosse rankings for the third consecutive week.

The team has a week-long break in between games where it will play Clemson Saturday at 2 p.m. at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. The squad only has three more games left in the regular season and one more contest at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Syracuse football draft prospect named a top 5 RB prospect

NBC’s Chris Simms ranked Syracuse football running back Sean Tucker his No. 4 running back in the 2023 class. After a second consecutive 1,000 yard rushing season to go along with a second straight 13+ total touchdown season, Tucker will be looking to hear his name called in this year’s NFL draft, which will be held later this month from April 27-29.

Men’s lacrosse suffers agitating defeat

Syracuse men’s lacrosse suffered its fifth loss of the season, losing to No. 3 Notre Dame on Saturday 20-12. The Orange were down 8-2, but stormed back to tie the game at 11, and then eventually took the lead by one. But after a controversial call that cost Syracuse a goal, the team couldn’t recover, allowing nine consecutive goals to the Fighting Irish.

The call disturbed many, including famous former lacrosse player Paul Rabil, who voiced his frustration on Twitter about the lack of ability to review calls.

After the agonizing defeat, Gary Gait and company will need to turn the page as they head to New Jersey to play Princeton Saturday at noon.

Syracuse tennis suffers sixth consecutive loss

After starting the year off 9-0, Syracuse tennis has fizzled down as of late. Over the weekend, the team lost its sixth straight match after losing to Wake Forest 5-2. SU’s next game, which is on April 14, is against Notre Dame, giving the team ample time to prepare for the contest.

But, the team only has two games left in the regular season and the clock is running out for them to rediscover the start of the year performances that led to its hot start before postseason play.
