Early in the second half, it seemed as if the Syracuse women’s lacrosse game against Louisville would go down to the wire. At halftime, the Orange held just a 7-5 lead, and fewer than five minutes into the second half, the game was knotted up at 8 goals apiece.

So much for a close game.

Syracuse ended the game on an 11-0 run over the final 25 minutes, and the Orange (9-8, 1-6 ACC) knocked off the Cards, 19-8, in the Carrier Dome on Sunday afternoon.

Multiple SU players tallied multi-goal performances. Nicole Levy and Sam Swart each recorded a hat trick, while Neena Merola, Emily Hawryschuk, and Mary Rahal found the back of the net twice.

As far as setting up those goals, Molly Carter recorded a season-high five assists, and Alie Jimerson dished out three helpers of her own. Jimerson also added a goal.

Louisville’s Emily Howell scored the last goal for the Cardinals (6-10, 0-7 ACC) with 25:15 left in the second half to tie the game at eight before the Orange rattled off the 11 straight goals. The win for Syracuse is the first in ACC play for SU. Louisville ends the regular season winless in conference play.

The game in the Dome was Senior Day as well. Jimerson and Merola were honored pregame along with teammates Erin Coleman, Mia DeBello, Riley Donahue, Ella Hogan, Zoe Reaction, and Kelzi Van Atta. In addition to Jimerson and Merola’s performances, Donahue recorded a goal, while Coleman played 7:20 in net and tallied one save.
