New Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown has already gotten to work by recruiting highly-rated prospects from high school and the transfer portal.

Syracuse received verbal commitments from wide receiver Jaylan Hornsby, running back Yasin Willis, defensive end Jahide Lesaine and tight end Elijah Washington. All of them are three or four-star recruits.

Brown also secured Georgia wide receiver Jackson Meeks from the transfer portal.

Other names linked with Syracuse since Brown took the position are transfer Fadil Diggs, 5-star defensive back KJ Bolden, 4-star cornerback Koy Beasley, 4-star edge KingJoseph Edwards, and 4-star defensive back Marcellus Barnes.

The undrafted rookie got an opportunity in New York after injuries left them without an option at quarterback. After a 2-7 start, DeVito helped the team reach a 5-8 record and are near a wildcard spot.

DeVito, who transferred to Illinois after losing the starting job at SU during the 2021 season, finished the night with 17-of-21 passing for 158 yards and a touchdown.
