Tucker runs toward the record books

Running back Sean Tucker added to his growing list of accomplishments with a career-high 207 rushing yards vs. Boston College. His season-long dominance has earned him a spot as a Maxwell Award semifinalist.

Tucker was also named ACC Running Back of the Week. His seventh-consecutive 100-yard output extended his own school record.

The nation’s leading rusher with 1,267 yards, Tucker has three regular season games to break the Orange record of 1,372, set by Joe Morris in 1979.

Jackson, Smyzt also receive honors for Cuse Football

Courtney Jackson was named the ACC’s Specialist of the Week following his 64-yard punt return TD against Boston College.

The score came on only Jackson’s third career return attempt, as he was filling in for regular return man Trebor Pena.

Kicker Andre Szmyt was nominated for the Burlsworth Trophy, which honors outstanding players who began their careers as walk-ons.

Szmyt won the Lou Groza Award, which recognizes the best college kicker, in 2018 and is Syracuse’s all-time leading scorer with 344 points.

Syracuse hosts ACC field hockey tournament; team seeded No. 2

The ACC Field Hockey Championship will be held at J.S. Coyne Field this week. The Orange field hockey team is ranked ninth nationally and holds the No. 2 seed in the tournament.

Syracuse will face Duke on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in the ACC quarterfinals. The semifinals will take place Friday, followed by the championship match on Sunday.

Hockey captain DiGiorlamo wins monthly award

Jessica DiGiorlamo was recognized as the College Hockey American Defenseman of the Month for her play in October. She tallied two goals and two assists in SU’s first eight games,

DiGiorlamo has 80 career points, good for tenth all-time at Syracuse and first among all defensemen. Her 51 assists rank eighth in history among CHA defensemen.

Volleyball’s Markova earns weekly conference recognition

Marina Markova earned ACC Co-Player of the Week honors for the second time. She compiled 53 kills, 29 digs and six blocks total in matches against Miami and Florida State.

Markova has 381 kills on the season: tops in the ACC. Her 4.38 kills per set are good for second in the conference and 13th in the country.
