Syracuse football’s four-game losing skid continued on Saturday as they suffered an agonizing loss to No. 25 Florida State. This was the Orange’s worst loss of the year, 38-3.

It was the team’s final home game of the year, and the fans were loud and rowdy as usual. Syracuse basketball legend Carmelo Anthony was in attendance. However, since the Orange blew their two score lead against Clemson earlier this season, the team has not recovered.

The Seminoles scored the most points on the Orange of any opponent all year, while the Orange scored the least amount of points all year. Syracuse only amassed 160 total yards of offense and converted only one of their 11 third downs.

While a few weeks ago, hopes of being a part of a major bowl game were quite realistic, those hopes now seem to be all but gone.

The Orange will face Wake Forest in an ACC showdown on Saturday at Truist Field at 8:00 p.m.

Men’s basketball drops first game of the year

After starting off the year strong against Lehigh, Syracuse men’s basketball dropped their first game of the young season on Tuesday, losing to Colgate 80-67.

While the loss was definitely a disappointment considering that the Orange were favored and at home, there were some bright spots.

Freshman Judah Mintz continued to impress, scoring 20 points with strong efficiency. Forward Benny Williams, who struggled mightily last season, scored 17 points and recorded eight rebounds.

The eight days between their first two games is the second longest break the Orange will have all year.

Jim Boeheim’s crew will look to establish some rhythm with their next game at home on Saturday against Northeastern at 2 p.m.

Carmelo Anthony’s son receives basketball offer to Syracuse

Kiyan Anthony, son of Syracuse basketball star Carmelo Anthony, received a basketball offer from head coach Jim Boeheim on Sunday.

Kiyan is a 6’3″ shooting guard in the class of 2025, as well as a four-star athlete. At just 15 years old, Kiyan has tallied four college offers besides Syracuse. In July, George Mason offered a spot for Kiyan. On October 4, both Bryant and Memphis offered Kiyan a place on their rosters. A day prior to Syracuse’s offer, Manhattan offered him as well.

Syracuse’s GSR in the Top 10 among Power 5 schools for third year in a row

Syracuse University Athletics ranks in the Top 10 for all Power 5 schools in Graduation Success Rate for the third consecutive year. Syracuse’s 93% GSR is tied for the fifth best for all schools in the Power 5. The Orange are also only one of 25 schools in the Power 5 nationally to have a score of 93% or higher.

Nine Syracuse teams earned a 100% GSR this year — women’s tennis and women’s volleyball (both 11th year in a row), men’s cross county, men’s track and field, men’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, men’s and women’s soccer and women’s basketball.

Women’s hoops remains undefeated

After starting off the year with a 23-point win against Stony Brook, first year head coach Felisha Legette-Jack and Syracuse women’s basketball continue to roll. The Orange defeated both of their opponents this past week by an average of 28.5 points, extending their undefeated season to three games.

Senior guard Dyaisha Fair and fifth-year player Dariauna Lewis have been leading the way so far. Fair is averaging a team-high 15.7 points per game and Lewis is averaging a magnificent 12 rebounds per game to start off this young season, which is in the top 10 in the nation for most boards per game.

Syracuse women’s basketball will face Long Island University on Thursday. They will then go on the road for the first time this year to play Penn State on Monday.

Men’s soccer defeats Clemson to win ACC Championship

Syracuse men’s soccer team defeated the Clemson Tigers 2-0 to take home their first ACC championship since 2015 and their second in school history.

This season is a major improvement from last year, when the team was 8-8-2 and lost in the first round of the ACC tournament.

Head coach Ian McIntyre, who received ACC Coach of the Year honors, led the team in their fabulous effort.

Four of the eleven members of the all-tournament team were members of the Orange, including Russell Shealy who was awarded the Most Valuable Player award.

The team will now be the third seed in the NCAA men’s soccer tournament. The team has a first-round bye and will host the winner of Rutgers versus the University of Pennsylvania on Sunday at 2 p.m.
