The Syracuse Crunch beat the Rochester Americans twice this past weekend in the North Division Semifinals at Upstate Medical University Arena. Friday’s game was sent to overtime while Saturday’s was a 3-0 shutout.

The Crunch got on the scoreboard first on Friday, but every time Syracuse scored, the Americans responded. In overtime, defender Philippe Myers knocked the puck into the back of Rochester’s net two minutes into OT, making Syracuse victorious 3-2.

In game two, the Crunch absolutely dominated the Americans with goaltender Max Lagace recording his first-ever Calder Cup Playoffs shutout. He saved 18 shots in the cage and didn’t face a single shot in the first period, the first time in franchise history that Syracuse didn’t allow a shot in a period.

Two of the Crunch’s three goals came in the first period of play with defender Ryan Jones scoring the first and forward Gage Goncalves adding another midway through the first. Goncalves added his second goal with 33 seconds remaining in the game shooting at an empty net to secure the 3-0 Crunch win.

Next up, the Crunch look to end the series undefeated with game three set for 7:05 p.m. Friday at One War Memorial Square in Rochester, New York.
