The Syracuse women’s lacrosse team competed in a battle on Saturday afternoon against a familiar foe. Visiting the No. 5 Orange was the No. 4 Northwestern Wildcats. The game was as advertised.

This season-opener had multiple lead changes and scoring runs. After being tied 2-2 at the end of the first period, the Orange outscored the Wildcats 6-2 in the second period to give themselves an 8-4 lead going into halftime.

The thriller, in which the Orange won 16-15, provided a large amount of offensive production from both teams, scoring a combined 31 total points.
