Florida State hands Orange volleyball its 15th straight loss
FSU hands SU volleyball 15th straight loss
The Seminoles defeat SU 3-1 despite blocker/hitter Raina Hughes’ career night.
Syracuse volleyball fell to Florida State in four sets Friday in the most recent loss of a 15-game streak.
SU redshirt sophomore blocker and hitter Raina Hughes got a career-high 15 kills in the loss but was not able to lead the team past the visitors.
Syracuse looked competitive to start the game before the Seminoles went on an 11-0 run to leave the Orange behind. Florida State went on to defeat SU in the set 25-10.
SU fought back in the second frame and went on a seven-point run to take the lead late and go on to tie the game one each.
However, a 16-3 run for the Seminoles in the third frame that gave Florida the lead, and an early 10-2 lead in the fourth, put an end to the game.
Hughes’ personal best game saw her lead the team in both kills and points. Freshman Veronica Sierzant contributed with a team-high 27 assists.
Florida State dominated Syracuse by beating the Orange in points 72-49, kills 56-36, blocks 14-5, assists 48-34 and digs 62-49.
The Orange is up against Boston College next on Friday 6 p.m. at the Women’s Building.
