Dordevic’s career-best earns ACC recognition:

The men’s lacrosse team split its two-game spring break road trip at Johns Hopkins and Stony Brook. The Orange lost 10-7 in Baltimore, Maryland, despite leading the Blue Jays in shots, ground balls and faceoffs.

Tucker Dordevic scored a career-high six goals and added three assists in Syracuse’s 14-9 win over the Seawolves last weekend. The ACC named Dordevic the conference’s Player of the Week for his performance on Long Island.

SU hasn’t won consecutive games or topped a ranked opponent yet this season. The Orange have a chance to accomplish both of those goals this Sunday against No. 10 Duke. It’ll be the Blue Devils’ first game in the Carrier Dome since 2017.

Treanor and women’s lacrosse keep rolling:

Since the last Sports SUmmary, Syracuse has gone 3-1 versus a slate of ranked opponents. They went 3-0 against conference foes, defeating No. 6 Duke in a thrilling come-from-behind victory back on March 6. The lone loss of this stretch came at No. 13 Florida over spring break.

Kayla Treanor, the youngest head coach in the ACC, will lead the Orange through three-straight home games before hosting No. 2 North Carolina on April 9.

Former football stars get paid in the NFL:

Defensive end Chandler Jones, who earned All-Big East honors in three seasons with the Orange before the New England Patriots drafted him in the 2012 NFL Draft, recently signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Las Vegas Raiders.

Former Orange captain Zaire Franklin, now a linebacker and special teams captain with the Indianapolis Colts, signed with the Colts for three more seasons in a contract worth $12 million.

Dino Babers and the 2022 Syracuse football team are preparing for the group’s intrasquad scrimmage game on April 1. The Orange and Blue game will begin at 7 p.m. in the Carrier Dome and is free for all spectators.

Softball is streaking:

Syracuse softball entered spring break on a four-game losing skid, following road series with ACC foes NC State and No. 6 Virginia Tech. But they’ve since won seven straight games, including wins over Maryland Eastern Shore, Coppin State, Iona and Hofstra.

After a road series against Georgia Tech this weekend, the Orange will return to Syracuse for the home opener on April 1 against Pittsburgh.

Neli Casares-Maher’s batting average and on-base percentage both rank inside the ACC’s top-10, while freshman Kelly Breen’s seven homers trail the conference leader by just two. On the mound, Summer Clark’s .169 batting average against ranks fifth in the ACC.

Former Orange hurdler wins international hardware:

Jarret Eaton, who won an individual NCAA Championship with the Orange in 2012, won Bronze in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2022 World Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday.

The 2022 men’s track team kicks off its spring schedule at NC State’s Raleigh Relays beginning March 24.

Rowing returns to action:

Women’s rowing’s spring slate kicks off this weekend in Camden, New Jersey, at the Doc Hosea Invitational. It will be the first of four regular season events before the postseason begins in mid-May.

The Orange will look to pick up where they left off last season, which concluded with a 10th-place NCAA Championships finish.

Tennis tumbles in March:

Amid a 1-5 stretch, the Orange have slipped to 7-6 on the season. A 4-0 win over Clemson marks Syracuse’s lone win since mid-February.

Polina Kozyreva leads the team with a 9-2 record in individual singles matches. They’ll look to get back on track during an upcoming five-match homestand.
