Syracuse men’s basketball junior forward Benny Williams was dismissed from the team on Tuesday, the team announced on social media. 

The school did not give a reason for his dismissal.

Syracuse Crunch’s ‘Women in Sports’ event includes Syracuse hockey

The school’s partnership with the Syracuse Crunch will be on display this Saturday, Feb. 10, during the Syracuse Rochester Doubleheader on ‘Women in Sports’ day.

The Orange will play RIT  in the Upstate University Medical Arena at the Oncenter War Memorial at 2 p.m. The Crunch will play the Rochester Americans at 7 p.m.

Between games, the Crunch will host a ‘Women in Sport’ panel in the Empire Room at the Marriott Syracuse Downtown from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Orange alum selected to US National team for FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup

Syracuse Men’s soccer alum Nico Perea will be a part of the 12-man 2024 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Roster when games start later this month. The team will be traveling to the United Arab Emirates. 

Perea played for Syracuse from 2011 to 2014. He was a team captain for his final two seasons. The Syracuse alum played in every game during his four seasons as a member of the Orange. 

After leaving Syracuse, the defensive midfielder played for various teams in the NASL and USL, until he started competing in high-level beach soccer in 2019.

Orange win three events at Fast Trax Invite

The Orange track team won three events at the Fast Trax Invitational on Saturday. 

Redshirt sophomore Caroline Kirby won the women’s mile by almost nine full seconds, followed by freshman Leah Futey, who finished in third. 

Senior CJ Fox won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.10 seconds. Junior Olivia Etienvre was the runner-up.

Freshman Shayla Ford won the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.29 seconds.
