Balanced scoring and stifling defense lead SU to a big win over Big Green

The Syracuse Women’s Basketball team head to their second game carrying a two-game win-streak after a commanding 35-point victory over Dartmouth.

From start to finish, Syracuse never shot below 45% from the field in any quarter in route to winning 87-52. The score showed dominance, but both teams turned the ball over 20 times.

Syracuse came out strong in the first quarter, shooting 9-16 from the field and making a statement against Big Green. SU’s defense was the key in today’s game, holding Dartmouth to 9 of 30 from the field in the first half.

At halftime, the Orange had a commanding 41-24 lead and continued to control in the second half, shooting 58% from the field. SU finished the game with five players in double figures, led by senior forward Saniaa Wilson, who shot 100% from the field.

Syracuse ruled the paint today by outscoring the Big Green by 36 points in the paint and making it a point of emphasis to get their forwards the ball.  The Orange bench had a huge impact today, producing 40 points compared to Dartmouth’s 12 bench points. 

After a disappointing blowout loss to Notre Dame in SU’s first ACC game of the season, they will open up the new year and take on Georgia Tech at McCamish Pavilion on Jan 2.
