A love story set on ice

Jess Schreiner and Jared Littlejohn were high school sweethearts when they met through a mutual friend almost 13 years ago. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby, Jess uses a wheelchair to get around. Her condition affects her muscles and spinal cord, causing pain in her back area and having her muscles continually moving on their own. Jared is both her partner and primary caretaker. He helps her with domestic things around the house, such as cooking and personal care and more. Jess has been playing sled hockey since 2014. Jared, who is able-bodied, joined the team about a year after Jess.
