Green Beer Sunday celebrates its 60th year

St. Patrick’s Day season officially started in Central New York as Coleman’s Authentic Irish Pub celebrated its 60th anniversary of Green Beer Sunday in Tipperary Hill.Â
Sunday’s festivities kicked off per tradition with a parade filled with bagpipes, celebratory cheers and the blaring horn of Coleman’s tanker filled to the brim with green-dyed beer.Â
Thousands of people clad in green and shamrock-themed attire swarmed the tanker as pub manager Dennis Coleman poured the first glass from the tap and raised a glass with grand marshals Mike and Mary Kay Ryan.
The celebration continued under the pavilion with live music by The Mere Mortals and, of course, plenty of green beer and cider.Â

People swarm the end of the tanker that brings the green beer to the pub in hopes of getting a cup. After pumping the green beer into the pub, the drivers start handing out cups until the tap only produces foam.

With so many people cycling in and out of the bar for drinks, the bartenders are always bussing multiple orders. Behind the bar, if they could catch a few seconds of breath, that was a miracle.
