Addiction is one of the most common diseases facing the world today, yet there are few others that carry a strong stigma with them.

According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, approximately 14 million people in the United States suffer from an alcohol use disorder.

Matt struggled with alcoholism from an early age and became sober at age 27. Disappointed with the sedentary lifestyle of his court-ordered living situation, Matt began spending a few days a week at Shadow Haven Farm – a farm and ministry dedicated to assisting men recovering from addiction in their rehabilitation and success moving forward.

It is here, tinkering among the rusted tractors and aging lumber, that he truly finds serenity.
