Rip The Runway showcases AFRIK fashion
SU’s African Student Union and the Fashion Design Society partnered for the annual showcase of unique designs.
Models stepped onto the runway and into the future at this year’s Rip the Runway fashion show.
Saturday’s show at Goldstein Auditorium produced by Syracuse University’s African Student Union and the Fashion and Design Society showcased original looks that blended culture, futurism and high fashion.
SU fashion design sophomores Amaya Evans and Jada Williams were the featured student designers while sourced designers included Boubou Queens from Senegal, Deji and Kola from Nigeria, Mimmy Yeboah from Ghana and Angie H. Couture from Liberia.
Comedian Clifford Owusu hosted the fashion show and kept the energy high in the room by joking with audience members and bringing people on stage to show off their outfits and their dance moves.
Also, the show included special performances by the Outlaws Dance Troupe, One World Dance Team and student Fanta Diarra.
