The creative mastermind behind the hit show "Schitt's Creek" will be coming to Syracuse virtually on April 23.

University Union has announced that they will be hosting actor, writer, and producer Dan Levy for a virtual Q&A on April 23, 2021, at 8 pm. The event is free and open to all Syracuse University and SUNY-ESF students, faculty, and staff.

Dan Levy is a Canadian writer, actor, director and producer. He is famously known for his work on the show “Schitt’s Creek” which he co-created with his father, Eugene Levy. In 2013, the father-son duo established Not A Real Company Productions with Andrew Barnsley and Fred Levy. Aside from being a co-creator, executive producer and writer of “Schitt’s Creek”, Levy also starred as one of the main characters David Rose with his father Eugene Levy who played Johnny Rose, his fictional father.

Before “Schitt’s Creek”, Levy found his start with MTV by hosting the reality TV show “The Hills: The After Show”. At the start of his career, Levy didn’t want to be tied to his father’s already established fame. It wasn’t until he left MTV that he had a project idea that he was ready to include his father in, and it was “Schitt’s Creek”.

The series has collected approximately three dozen awards and more than 100 nominations. According to Vanity Fair, “Schitt’s Creek” is a perfect example of word-of-mouth success, especially in a time when viral culture maximizes exposure. The success of the series has resulted in die-hard fans and popular meme culture surrounding each character who are known for being unapologetically themselves.

“Schitt’s Creek” came to an end on Netflix on April 7, 2020, a year ago this month. Now, Levy is working on his newest project called “Happiest Season” which is currently in production. If you want to know more be sure to RSVP on University Union’s ‘Cuse Activities page by logging in with your NetID username and password.
