‘Queer Eye’ star Antoni Porowski
"Queer Eye" food and wine connoisseur Antoni Porowski is a self-taught chef, former actor and model.

Catch Queer Eye star Antoni Porowski on Oct. 20, when he serves Syracuse University students some culinary wisdom with a cooking demonstration in Goldstein Auditorium, followed by an audience Q&A session.

Tickets are on sale at the Schine Box Office with a valid SU/ESF ID for $5, $10 for alumni, faculty and staff, and $15 for the general public.

Porowski is the food and wine expert in Queer Eye’s “Fab Five,” an Emmy Award-winning cast  including Tan France (fashion expert), Karamo Brown (culture expert), Bobby Berk (interior design expert) and Jonathan Van Ness (grooming expert). The group of men are on a mission to make over Atlanta, conducting lifestyle makeovers for those seemingly losing direction in life. The Netflix series is a reboot of Bravo’s early 2000s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, which debuted last February.

Porowski’s underlying philosophy in his cooking is that “food should tell a story,” and “the heart and the stomach are interconnected.” As a former personal chef to some of the upper echelons of New York and Brooklyn’s prominent citizens, some of Porowski’s top fans are the President of Barclays Stadium, the Chief Curator of MOMA, and the founder of Tasting Table, who hired Antoni to host segments on the renowned cooking site.

Doors for the University Union- and Traditions Commission-sponsored event will open at 7:15 p.m. American Sign Language interpretation and Communication Access Realtime Translation will be available. UU can be reached at uuvicepresident@gmail.com for questions or to request accommodations.

Start checking out Porowski’s cooking tutorials before he comes to SU with this meatball, sausage and rice timbale, below, which the star claims “tastes just like grandma.”
