The NewsHouse Music Roundup: March Edition
March Music Roundup
It’s time for another music roundup, and let’s just say that March was a month full of music releases that we couldn’t even keep up with! So for this music roundup, we’ve got the likes of Red Velvet, Charli XCX, Chance The Rapper and more to wrap up the musical month of March!
Chance the Rapper – Child Of God
Release Date: March 25, 2022
Chance the Rapper is back with his first solo release in over a year, “Child of God.” “Child of God” is a multi-faceted project that includes the official video and an art exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Gabonese-American artist Naïla Opiangah paints the piece present in the exhibition, which doubles as the track’s cover art. Ahead of the track’s release, Chance took to Instagram and revealed that the track is about “confidence, purpose and process.” Chance the Rapper is back and “creating to say what I gotta say,” he said in an interview with Complex.
Red Velvet – Feel The Rhythm
Release Date: March 21, 2022
Known as the “Nation’s Girl Group,” K-Pop girl group Red Velvet has made their comeback this month not once but twice! Red Velvet released their thirteenth overall EP and fifth special EP, “The ReVe Festival 2022 – Feel My Rhythm.” The multi-faceted group returned with six new tracks in various genres, including the lead single “Feel My Rhythm.” The lead single is a dance-pop track that takes listeners by surprise, especially knowing that the group sampled Bach’s “Air on the G String.” Red Velvet also unveiled the music video for their new Japanese single, “Wildside”, from their upsizing debut Japanese studio album, “Bloom.” Red Velvet is back and better than ever!
Omar Apollo – Tamagotchi
Release Date: March 23, 2022
“I don’t even think you realize you got a f*cking banger on your hands, you f*cking dork.” This is what Tyler, the Creator told Mexican-American singer Omar Apollo about Apollo’s latest release, “Tamagotchi,” produced by Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo, a.k.a The Neptunes. “Tamagotchi” is a fun and sultry track. Not only is Apollo singing in both Spanish and English, but he shows his versatility as an artist by crossing genre lines once again. His debut album, “IVORY,” is set to release on April 8 and includes 16 tracks, including previously released singles, “Go Away” and “Bad Life (feat. Kali Uchis)”.
Charli XCX – CRASH
Release Date: March 18, 2022
Charli XCX released “Crash” earlier this month. The album marks the end of the “long and torrid” five-album deal that Charli signed when she was 16. Critics are calling this album Charli’s “best full-length project since ‘Pop 2’,” and fans are calling it a “masterpiece.” She earned her first Top 10 album on the Billboard 200 with “Crash” debuting at #7 this week. But the accolades don’t stop there. The album debuted at #1 on the Official UK Albums Chart, her first #1 album. If you’re interested in seeing Charli XCX on tour, now’s the time to get tickets or “regret it 4 life,” the singer said.
Latto x Mariah Carey (feat. DJ Khaled) – Big Energy [REMIX]
Release Date: March 28, 2022
Latto and Mariah Carey were an unexpected duo, but they came together and gave the fans what they wanted. “Big Energy” samples Tom Tom Club’s “Genius of Love,” as did Mariah Carey’s 1995 triple-platinum single “Fantasy,” hence the reason for this collaboration. The track is a remix of Latto’s hit single “Big Energy,” released in September 2021, and is one of the 13 tracks in her latest album, “777.” The album includes powerhouse features from 21 Savage, Lil Wayne, Childish Gambino and more.
