And just like that, February comes to an end. Despite being the shortest month of the year, it’s been full of back-to-back music releases from the start of the month. Everything from K-Pop, pop-punk, Hip-Hop Soul and Indie-Pop. To wrap up this month, here’s a roundup of some amazing February releases.

 

Mitski – Laurel Hell
Release Date: February 4, 2022

Everyone’s favorite indie-pop artist, Mitski, released her sixth album Laurel Hell earlier this month. The singer went on a two-year hiatus, but has now returned to the music scene. Fans are speculating that this transfixing synth album may be the final gift of Mitski’s career, and are unsure if she’ll release more music. Nonetheless, the indie-pop artist is back for now and is currently on tour.

Machine Gun Kelly – “emo girl” (feat. WILLOW)
Release Date: February 4, 2022

You’ve probably heard the lyrics, “I fell in love with an emo girl,” as you scroll through TikTok. If you didn’t know already, it’s Machine Gun Kelly’s pop-punk track with Willow Smith. “emo girl” is Kelly’s first single of 2022, but don’t fret, MGK fans. His sixth studio album Mainstream Sellout is set for release on March 25.

BTS’s Jungkook – “Stay Alive” (Prod. SUGA of BTS)
Release Date: February 11, 2022

BTS’s Jungkook released the single “Stay Alive” mid-month. It’s produced by BTS’s lead rapper, Min Yoongi, better known by his stage name Suga. The track was recorded as an OST for the group’s ongoing futuristic urban fantasy webtoon series 7FATES: CHAKHO. Since its release, “Stay Alive” set a new record as the fastest song by a Korean soloist to reach the No. 1 spot on iTunes Top Songs charts in eight of the biggest music markets across the globe.

Mary J. Blige – Good Morning Gorgeous
Release Date: February 11, 2022

After almost five years, the “Queen of Hip-Hop Soul” came back with a 13-track album titled Good Morning Gorgeous, full of collaborations with Usher, Dave East, Anderson .Paak and more. Good Morning Gorgeous is Blige’s 14th studio album and landed the artist her first Billboard Hot 100 entry in 10 years.

Jack Harlow – “Nail Tech”
Release Date: February 18, 2022

Jack Harlow has undoubtedly made his way into the hearts of many and is arguably in his greatest era. He dropped new music for the first time since last August with the single, “Nail Tech” which garnered praise from one of his favorite rappers, Kanye West. West called the Louisville native a “Top 5 [Rapper]” right now. The single is projected to debut in Billboard’s Hot 100’s Top 20 next week.

Avril Lavigne – Love Sux
Release Date: February 25, 2022

The princess of pop-punk is back! Lavigne just released her seventh studio album, Love Sux. The album features guest appearances from Machine Gun Kelly, blackbear and Mark Hoppus. Lavigne has been in the industry for over 20 years and since the release of her iconic first album, Let Go, she’s given fans a bit of every music genre, from R&B to rock to J-Pop. Now they’re getting a pop-punk revival with Love Sux.
