TEKE::TEKE brings energy to The Lost Horizon

TEKE::TEKE headlines the Crossroads Collective concert at The Lost Horizon in Syracuse on Saturday.

Saturday night at The Lost Horizon was even more colorful than usual with TEKE::TEKE headlining a triple bill of avant-garde indie rock.

Several dozen music fans showed up for the concert put on by Crossroads Collective, a student-led Syracuse University organization whose goal is to bridge the gap between the university and the local community. Ticket proceeds were designated for efforts to enhance musical education in the Syracuse area.

First founded in Montreal as a tribute to famous Japanese guitarist Takeshi Terauchi, TEKE::TEKE quickly morphed into creating original music by blending styles including Japanese psychedelic rock, noise, Brazilian jazz and sprinkles of many more genres into a sound that has a stunning blend of influence.

The ever-energetic TEKE::TEKE managed to bring the crowd’s energy to new highs in the later half, creating a mosh pit dance party combo near the close of the four hours of live music as lead singer Maya Kuroki leaped and paraded around the stage.

Boys Go To Jupiter and Syracuse’s Gunk! opened the concert with a mix of grunge, rock and jazz.
