2 Chainz added to lineup for UU's Block Party 2022
UPDATE (NOON, April 21)
University Union has added 2 Chainz to the lineup for this year’s Block Party to replace fellow rapper Gunna who dropped out of his headlining spot last Friday.
The announcement marks 2 Chainz‘s third time at Syracuse University as he co-headlined the 2014 Block Party with Zedd and performed at a 2012 fashion show in Goldstein Auditorium.
The Atlanta rapper is best known for the song “Watch Out,” and his album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music. He has also been featured on songs like A$AP Rocky’s “F**ckin Problems” and Chance the Rapper’s “No Problems.”
UPDATE (7 p.m., April 15) :
Gunna will no longer be a headliner in Block Party concert, University Union’s announced Friday night.
UU said in a press release that original co-headliner Baby Keem along with 070 Shake and A-Trak are expected to perform at the April 29 concert in the Carrier Dome.
No exact reason was given for Gunna’s decision to drop out of the show with UU saying in the release that it was “due to unfortunate events out of University Union and Syracuse University’s control.”

Rising hip-hop artists Gunna and Baby Keem will bring their talent to Syracuse University for the 2022 Block Party, organized by SU’s University Union. 070 Shake and A-Trak will also perform. The concert will take place in The Carrier Dome on April 29 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:30.
Gunna, whose given name is Sergio Kitchens, last appeared at SU in 2018 as part of Alpha Phi Alpha’s Hope Benefit concert with J.I.D and Kash Doll. The Grammy-nominated rapper has found success through collaborations such as Drip Harder with Lil Baby which reached No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 and working with titans in the industry like Travis Scott, Young Thug, Mariah Carey and Future. His latest album, DS4EVER, was released earlier this year.
Known for his lyrics and production, 21-year-old Baby Keem is already critically acclaimed. His 2021 album The Melodic Blue was honored on XXL’s Freshman List and debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200 chart. Keem was featured on Kanye’s DONDA, and has worked with highly regarded producers such as CardoGotWings, Jahaan Sweet, Sounwave, Roselilah, Deats and Jasper Harris.
Danielle Balbuena, better known as 070 Shake, is a musician and rapper whose songs carry influence from hip-hop, pop, alternative, indie, and R&B. She released her first single “Make It There” in 2016 but rose significantly in popularity with her 2018 EP Glitter. She’s worked with Pusha T, DJ Khaled and Kanye West. Her full-length 2020 album Modus Vivendi arrived in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top Current Albums Chart and received high praise from Rolling Stone and NME.
Alain Macklovitch, better known as A-Trak, is a Grammy-nominated producer and international DJ. He’s one of the founder of New York’s Fool’s Gold Records and half of The Brothers Macklovitch alongside his brother, Dave 1, of the funk duo Chromeo. He’s released multiple collaborations this past year: “My Own Way” with Ferreck Dawn, “Funk U” with Weiss, “Know Each Other” with Friend Within and “Groove Society” with Wongo.
