SU students, faculty and alumni competed for the top prize in an annual chili cook-off, part of the Winter Carnival.

You could smell chili from the quad on Thursday as SU hosted its annual chili cook-off, a highlight of the school’s Winter Carnival.

The event took place on the patio of Huntington Beard Crouse, where dozens of hungry students and faculty gathered to try out the unique chili recipes. There were 10 recipes to choose from each with different flavors, like buffalo chicken, and creative names like “Netflix and Chili.”

Recipes were submitted by students, faculty and alumni to be tasted and scored by a panel of judges. Congratulations to Mackenzie Mertikas, whose recipe for “Mac’s Chili” took the grand prize.
