33rd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration

The 33rd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Jan. 28, 2018 will be headlined by keynote speaker Angela Rye.

This event, held at the Carrier Dome, is the largest university-sponsored event honoring King's legacy in the United States. The program begins at 5:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

Preceding the program is a dinner at 4:30 p.m. with doors opening at 4 p.m. Tickets for SU faculty/staff and the general public are available at the Schine Box Office for $30 for individuals and $300 for a block of 10. Student tickets are $15 and may be purchased through a dining hall meal plan. Students without a meal plan may purchase tickets at the Schine Box Office. 

Rye, a political commentator for both CNN and NPR, is an attorney and the principal and CEO of IMPACT Stratages, a political advocacy and strategic consulting firm. She has previously served as the executive director and general counsel to the Congressional Black Caucus for the 112th Congress. Rye has also been interviewed by and provided commentary for CNN, HBO, MSNBC, C-SPAN, The Washington Post and Fortune among others.
