Your Take: The H1N1 vaccine

SU students react to the first batch of H1N1 vaccines distributed on campus.

After Syracuse University Health Services reported last week more than 400 cases of swine flu, doses of the H1N1 vaccine were distributed Friday to the 200 students who pre-registered.

Free tickets for the H1N1 vaccine were given out to students Thursday morning on a first-come, first-serve basis. On Friday, those who had tickets were assigned time slots to go to the Health Services center and get the vaccine in the form of a nasal spray. 

Gunmen kills eleven people at Fort Hood

A gunmen took the lives of 11 soldiers and his own at Fort Hood in Texas.

According to CNN. com, Eleven people were killed and another 31 people were injured as a gunman opened fire on Fort Hood in Texas today.  There is a possibility that more than one shooter was involved in the tragedy.  Fort Hood is the United States Army's largest post.  The shootings occurred at the sports complex on the military grounds.  President Obama referred to the incident as "tragic"  and "a horrific outburst of violence".  Fort Hood is home to almost 40,000 soldiers,...

Today Syracuse will elect a new mayor and the 23rd congressional district will elect a new congressman.

Free flu shots draw more than 1,500 students

H1N1 concerns and attention result in largest Syracuse campus clinic ever.

UPDATE: The next flu clinic is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15. at Flanagan Gymnasium, beginning at noon until the vaccine is gone. Students should bring their student I.D. and wear loose clothing that allows their upper arm to be exposed.

“Ooooww!” Bryce Shulman yelled as the nurse pulled the needle out of his arm. 

Nearly 150 students lining the basketball court looked over at the 6-foot-tall, third-year film major.

“Just kidding,” Shulman said, smiling to the crowd.
