Tops Friendly Markets raise $24,500 during 'Check out Hunger' campaign.

Tops Market's campaign to raise money for the CNY Food Bank, between Jan. 23 and Feb. 12, raised $24,500, according to The Post-Standard. Customers were asked to give $2, $3 or $5 donations with all proceeds going directly to the food bank. 

Customers also had the option of donating to the food bank during check out. 

The Food Bank of CNY will use the donations to distribute food through out several counties in Central New York.

Tops Market has announced its intentions to close four Penn Traffic supermarkets, according to The Post-Standard.

P&C Foods in Hornell, two BiLo stores in Pennsylvania and a P&C outlet in Vermont were the four stores to miss the cut. A spokesman for Tops Market cites economic vitality, store conditions and location as the three overriding factors which led to the closures.
