After twisters touch down in Texas on Tuesday, cleanup begins

Two tornadoes tore through the Dallas-Forth Worth area on Tuesday afternoon, leaving a trail of destruction in its path and residents in a state of fear. The tornadoes destroyed houses and took down power lines, which left a significant amount of the area without power. NYtimes.com reports that the region, where about six million people live, was notified of possible tornadoes in the afternoon.

On Sunday, 68 teams were fortunate to make the esteemed NCAA tournament. As expected, the Orange was awarded a No. 1 seed in the East region.

Let’s take a look at who SU could potentially matchup against in the East and how much of a threat they are to end the Orange’s magical season.

16 Seed - UNC Asheville

The Scoop - A 16 seed has never beaten a 1 and this game won’t change that. UNC Asheville has good guards and gave the UNC Tar Heels a run for their money in the first half, but Syracuse is just too talented.

After a historic offense performance in game three, the Cardinals got shut-out by the young lefty Derek Holland in game four. The pitcher tossed eight and one third scoreless innings striking out seven and allowing just two hits to the potent St. Louis line-up in his team's 4-0 victory.

Thirteen adults, five minors charged in the sexual assault of Texas girl.

The adults charged in the sexual assault of an 11-year-old could face 25 years to life in prison, according to CNN. The assault happened last year in Cleveland, Texas, about 50 miles northeast on Houston. 

The 18 people charged are between 14 and 27 years old. Four of them were in the Cleveland independent school district and were charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14.

Texas government officials are considering a bill that would allow college students and professors to carry concealed weapons on campus, according to CNN.

Before lawmakers vote on the bill, the legislature will hold a public meeting to discuss the bill.

The New York Yankees are now offering Cliff Lee a seven-year contract

 In a surge to grab pitching sensation Cliff Lee, the New York Yankees have bumped up their original offer to seven years, according to ESPN.

 The Yankees original offer to Lee was for six years and $140 million. This new offer is less than the average $23.3 million per year of the six-year offer.

A new advertising slogan “Don’t Mess With California” has been created in response to the involvement of Texas oil companies funding Proposition 23. If passed, the proposition would undo a 2006 law that limited greenhouse gas emissions, but much of the funding for its passage has come from outside the state.
