Orange play poorly on offense and defense in rough weekend against Bulls.

Syracuse softball (24-8, 3-3) seemed to be off to a promising start before this past weekend. After traveling south to play South Florida (22-15, 4-0) and getting swept by the Bulls, expectations are a bit tempered. The weekend lacked any offense from the Orange along with porous defense.

Syracuse won its opening game 23-0, then rode that winning wave throughout the weekend as they swept Rutgers and improved to 24-5 overall.

Following another successful weekend, Syracuse Softball is approaching an eight game winning streak which would tie for the longest streak in school history. SU (24-5, 3-0) swept Rutgers this past weekend to extend its winning ways.

Despite playing on the Scarlet Knight’s home turf, it was the Orange who dominated, as they demolished Rutgers, 23-0, in the opening game. Syracuse’s offense got off to a fast start by scoring four in the first inning and it never looked back.

South Florida had no answer for the Orange attack Saturday as Syracuse jumped out early and rolled to a 78-57 victory.

On the first play of the Syracuse women’s basketball game Saturday, guard Tasha Harris passed the ball to Iasia Hemingway waiting in the low post. Hemingway spun and shot the ball into the basket. It was a play that Syracuse repeated often with great effect.

Syracuse dominates offensively and defensively to defeat the South Florida Bulls, 82-65

It was a one-man game for the University of South Florida in their fight against the Orange on Sunday afternoon in the Carrier Dome. However, Dominic Jones’ game-high 30 points were not enough to stop Syracuse from controlling the game. Wes Johnson led the team to an 82-65 victory, with 19 points and 13 rebounds.
