SU holds off pesky Rutgers team for 84-80 overtime victory

Syracuse used 47 free throw attempts to supplement a lackluster shooting night and make just enough plays to hold off Rutgers in overtime Saturday, 84-80.

On the way to the Carrier Dome Saturday, 28,944 fans endured the freezing temperatures outside, most expecting to see Syracuse grab another Big East win. But instead they got a chance to witness an overtime thriller.

After breaking its losing streak with a comeback win over West Virginia Monday, Syracuse hopes to win its 11th consecutive game against Rutgers when the Orange host the Scarlet Knights Saturday.

Saturday Syracuse will welcome the Rutgers into the Carrier Dome. The Orange will be looking to extend their winning streak against the Scarlet Knight’s to 11 straight.

Orange takes care of Rutgers, restores health of program

With recruits on the sideline and the parents in the stands for Senior Day, Syracuse dominated No. 25 Rutgers, 31-13.

The state of Syracuse football, and the status of the health care system in the United States, has run a similar path.


Hype and hope surrounded the hiring of Marrone (an alum and successful NFL coordinator), as well as the election of President Barack Obama (a community leader with pointed ideas and a lasting voice). Today, the products of both men move forward toward its goal after adversity, using solid footing and some timely motivation to invigorate the masses once more. 

Field Hockey hosts cheap Halloween party

The No. 5 ranked Orange field hockey team closes the regular season against Rutgers on Oct. 31; game time is 1 p.m.

After getting tricked in Boston last weekend, the Syracuse field hockey team looks to treat the fans on Saturday.
 
The Orange returns to J.S. Coyne Stadium on Halloween after spending the past two weekends watching the leaves change across the Northeast.
