General ordered new protection for U.S. troops in Afghanistan after increase of attacks
U.S. troops in Afghanistan are now going to be each other’s guardian angels. U.S. military commanders in Afghanistan have assigned troops to be “guardian angels” and watch over their companions even as they sleep.
“Someone is always overwatching our forces,” top commander in Afghanistan Marine General John Allen told USA Today.
After the attempted rape of a local female Sunday, a South Carolina sheriff is encouraging women to get concealed weapons permits.
Investigators said 46-year-old Walter Monroe Lance of Spartanburg, South Carolina attacked a woman who was walking her dog in Milliken Park on Sunday afternoon, WYFF-4 reports. They said Lance choked the womanand demanded she take off her clothing at which point Lance attempted to rape the victim.

Perched on the edge of the Goldstein Auditorium stage Wednesday night, Scott Fried began his talk to 250 Syracuse University students with that opening line.
Fried was infected with HIV in 1987. The national public speaker and health educator has made it his mission for the past 18 years to help others protect themselves from the disease.
