Chase Utley starts MLB season off with an injury.

CLEARWATER, FL -- Philadelphia Phillies second baseman will be starting the season on the disabled list with a swollen right knee, according to ESPN

Chase Utley is "very likely" to remain on the bench for opening day, said general manager Ruben Amaro Jr on Thursday. 

"He hasn't seen the field yet, and we're a week away," said Amaro. 

The Phillies have been quiet about the injury not mentioning the progress of Utley's right knee. No updates have been mentioned yet.

Phillies' ace throws second ever postseason no-hitter.

Roy Halladay has arguably been the best pitcher in Major League Baseball over the past decade. 

Despite all the accolades and awards Halladay has received, never had he pitched in a postseason game. 

He made up for lost time on Wednesday night. 

Halladay threw the second ever no-hitter in MLB postseason history against the Cincinnati Reds, joining Don Larsen as the only other pitcher in history to do so.

After struggling to claim the National League East title, the Philadelphia Phillies have finally got what they wanted, according to ESPN. 

The Phillies lead an 8-0 victory over the Washington Nationals Monday night. 

Roy Halladay's first year with the Phillies gets the taste of what its like to receive the National League East title. "I've watched it too much from the side, glad to be part of it" said Halladay.

New York claims its 27th title

The Yankees beat the Phillies last night 7-3 to win the World Series.  Hideki Matsui received the World Series MVP for his 6 RBI performance last night. New York has won 27 World Series titles, the most in the majors, but hadn't won the Series since their 2000 campaign.  This is captain Derek Jeter's 5th championship.  Manager Joe Girardi has won as a player and now as a manager.

My take: The fact that the World Series was decided last night, I figured it would be the lead.  Very...

Daughter tells school she was beaten with belt, Philadelphia fan faces possible jail time, and Kansas dominates early basketball polls

The Post-Standard reporting that a Syracuse woman faces misdemeanor charges after her daughter told school officials she was beaten with a belt.

The 8-year-old daughter says she became afraid of her own mother and asked to move in with her grandmother instead. Lynette Warren, 38, was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare.
