SU's starting guard has cousins living here in Syracuse to support him on and off the basketball court this season.

Teams rise to the top of the polls with support.

As the Syracuse University men's basketball team currently plays as the nation's No. 1 team, senior guard Scoop Jardine knows all about support.

Most fans know Jardine is a cousin to fellow teammate sophomore Dion Waiters, but the senior guard also has two more cousins who moved to Syracuse during the past year.

A Philadelphia landlord inspecting his building for suspicious activity discovered four mentally handicapped adults being held captive in a chain-locked room in the basement of the building.

After a troubled past Dion Waiters finds himself at Syracuse trying to become a star.

The old saying is unless you walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, you don’t know what they have been through. Dion Waiters’ footsteps started in the violent trappings of Philadelphia.  He says basketball was a life line.

“Coming from Philly, it’s hard out here,” reflective Waiters said. “So if anybody is successful, it’s a blessing because it’s a rough neighborhood. I’m just fortunate that basketball kept me out of trouble.”

Two United States airports were on high alert Friday after a suspicious package was found on a United Kingdom flight.

Cargo planes headed into Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Newark, New Jersey airports Friday morning were inspected more closely, according to CNN. The two airports were on high alert after a suspicious package, which contained a "manipulated" toner cartridge, was discovered on a U.K. flight the night before.

The cartridge tested negative for explosive material, authorities said.

A flight bound for Bermuda from the Philadelphia International Airport was evacuated after a suspicious baggage loader could not produce identification.

When two baggage loaders confronted a third baggage loader that did not have an identification badge, the man fled the area, according to CNN.

Following this discovery, passengers were escorted off the plane, and the entire plane was searched by bomb-sniffing dogs, according to federal officials. The plane did not have any explosives, and officials say that the situation did not seem to be a terrorist threat.
