Progress was made Wednesday during negotiation talks, providing a glimmer of hope for a full 82-game season

On day 118 turning into 119 of the NBA Lockout, negotiation talks finally yielded some progress. The two sides at battle, the league and the players union, emerged after a 15-hour meeting starting midday Wednesday going until 3 a.m. Thursday. The result? A possible labor deal by the weekend with the goal of restoring a full 82-game season.

Last night, Carmelo Anthony was limited to only 14 points off 6 of 18 shooting from the floor, according to ESPN. However, he did finish with seven rebounds and seven assists in a 92-79 win for the Knicks over the Hawks. In the seven games that Anthony has been with New York, the 14 points were his lowest in a Knickerbocker uniform.

Carmelo Anthony puts up 27 points in his first game since being traded to New York.

Carmelo Anthony got off to a dream start in the "Big Apple" after months of trade speculation. The former Syracuse University forward made his debut for the New York Knicks Wednesday night at Madison Square Garden. Anthony scored 27 points along with 10 rebounds as the Knicks won 114-108 over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Two tri-state area teams make blockbuster trades.

The Nets couldn't get Carmelo Anthony but they haven't given up. The New Jersey Nets have agreed to terms with the Utah Jazz to send All-Star point guard Deron Williams to New Jersey, ESPN reports.

In exchange, the Nets are giving up rookie forward Derrick Favors and Devon Harris.

Deron Williams has been an All-Star the past two seasons of his six-year career. The Jazz turned down an offer from the Dallas Mavericks for Williams earlier this week.

The battle between the East and the West quickly turned into the battle between Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. 

According to ESPN, the 2011 NBA All-Star Game was the highest-scoring regulation game in history. Bryant and LeBron went head-to-head to prove who was better once and for all.

Denver Nuggets, New Jersey Nets reach tentative trade deal.

Last month, ESPN reported New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhovo said he was done chasing Carmelo Anthony. But today he reached a tentative trade agreement with the Denver Nuggets for Anthony. In a two-team trade, the Nuggets will receive Devin Harris, Derrick Favors, Troy Murphy, Ben Uzoh and four first-round draft picks.

Utah Jazz coach resigning tonight after 23 years with the team.

SALT LAKE CITY -- Jerry Sloan and assistant coach Phil Johnson both announced their plans to resign from their positions with the Utah Jazz on Thursday, according to ESPN. Sloan signed a one-year contract extension on Monday but said the team has planned a press conference scheduled for 5 p.m. to discuss his future with the team.

Yao Ming, center for the Houston Rockets, says he plans to return to action on Tuesday night.

Yao Ming has set his return to the NBA for Tuesday night when the Houston Rockets play the Detroit Pistons, according to ESPN.

Ming was injured on November 10 when he suffered an ankle sprain. He has sat out the last month with the injury. The all-star center returned to practice Wednesday, and planned on practicing the rest of the week. Ming told the Houston Chronicle that he felt active and ready for the game against Detroit on Tuesday.

Miami Heat forward Lebron James sat out from practice today due to a deep bruise in his right shin.

Miami Heat all-star forward Lebron James missed practice Thursday due to a deep bruise in his right shin, according to ESPN.

James suffered the injury on Wednesday night, but fought through it while putting up 20 points and 12 assists against the New Jersey. Although Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra plans to start James on Friday night, the injury did seem to have an affect on James' performance against New Jersey as the all-star recorded his first game without a single rebound since his rookie season.

The injury-prone Miami Heat suffered another blow when they learned that their current starting shooting guard will be sidelined for several weeks.

The news on the injury front has been a common theme for the Miami Heat during the NBA preseason.

According to ESPN, shooting guard Mike Miller will be sidelined for several weeks due to a thumb injury he suffered during practice on Wednesday. Miller was injured when his right thumb got tangled in a teammate's jersey.
