AT&T, T-Mobile merging in a $39 billion deal.

AT&T announced on Sunday that it agreed to buy T-Mobile USA for $39 billion, according to the New York Times.

The deal to buy the mobile company from Deutsche Telekom will create the largest wireless carrier in the nation. It will also leave only these three major companies selling mobile devices: AT&T, Verizon and the much smaller Sprint Nextel.

Although members of the Onondaga County Legislature have indicated that the new tax revenue sharing plan will give less to villages and towns, the Village of Tully unveiled a new budget plan today that will cut taxes by six percent.


According to 9WSYR.com, Village Mayor Beth Greenwood says village board members worked to make sure they were absolutely as efficient as possible in this year's budget.

After two years of little merger activity, many energy companies are expected to look for ways to increase their reserves, acquire oil and gas fields and invest in new technology. The New York Times says these new mergers will be unlike the deals of the 1990s, which created huge companies like Exxon Mobilor or ConocoPhilips. Instead, companies will set their sights on much smaller fast-growing companies.
