A 23-5 run at the end of the second half helped the Orange to its fourth Big East victory of the year.

The No. 1 Syracuse men’s basketball team (17-0, 4-0 Big East) kept its unbeaten streak alive after defeating the No. 20 Marquette Golden Eagles (12-4, 1-2 Big East) 73-66 Saturday at the Carrier Dome.

The Syracuse University women's soccer team could not follow up on its stunning double overtime victory from two days earlier, losing 4-0 to Marquette.

The Syracuse University women’s soccer team (7-6-3, 6-4 Big East) lost 4-0 to No. 7 Marquette (16-2, 9-1 Big East) Sunday at the SU Soccer Stadium.

Sunday’s loss marked the fourth time the Orange has been shutout and the fifth time it has given up multiple goals in a game this season. Despite the loss the Orange still clinched a bye to the quaterfinals of the Big East Tournament by ensuring a third place finish in the American Division, the team's highest finish since the conference realigned in 2006.

SU allows a goal late to fall to Marquette, 3-2.

 

It was a close match, but with two minutes to go in regulation, Marquette (3-4-1, 1-0-0) finally broke free with a game-winning score to defeat the Syracuse men’s soccer team (2-5-0, 0-1-0) in its Big East home opener Saturday at the SU Soccer Stadium. Freshman James Nortey scored the goal, his second of the night, in the 88th minute to secure the win for the Golden Eagles.

Syracuse is in the midst of its longest losing streak since the 2005-06 season after falling to the Golden Eagles of Marquette Saturday, 76-70.

Syracuse came into this crucial road test against Marquette on a three game losing streak, their longest in two years. The Golden Eagles had lost two straight of their own, and were also looking for their first victory against Syracuse as a member of the Big East.

The Big East Tournament has its final four teams ready to battle in primetime with the semifinals tonight in Madison Square Garden, followed by the championship on Saturday night. That’s the good news. The bad news is Friday’s action will be the day fans remember.

The Big East tournament is alive and kicking. Syracuse, Villanova, and Pittsburgh, three of the top four seeds are home resting for the Big Dance. So what's left?

After a sloppy first half, the Orange battled back to take down the Marquette Golden Eagles on Saturday at the Carrier Dome.

The Orange picked up their fifth Big East victory of the season with a 69-60 win against the Marquette Golden Eagles. Nicole Michael Had a game-high 18 points while Carmen Tyson-Thomas added a career-high 14 points and a game-high 19 rebounds.

The high-flying Syracuse men’s basketball team held off Marquette, 76-71, in Big East action Saturday afternoon, giving returning students a taste of success to come.

For the second consecutive Saturday, No. 5 Syracuse let a Big East opponent believe that a miracle comeback was about to occur. It was West Virginia last weekend, and this afternoon the hopeful wore “Marquette” on their jerseys. 

Holding a 17-point lead with 3:45 remaining and fans buttoning up their winter coats, the Orange started to make mistakes that led to three-pointers for the Eagles. Marquette got within four points, 75-71, after a Maurice Acker triple with 10 seconds left.
