Judge dismisses lawsuit against Boeheim, university

Bobby Davis and Mike Lang's defamation suits against Jim Boeheim and Syracuse University have been dropped by a local New York State Supreme Court judge.

In a 30-page decision released Friday by judge Brian DeJoseph, the defamation suit against Syracuse University and its men's basketball head coach was dropped.

With Apple and other top publishers being sued on antitrust charges, consumers will find cheaper e-books on Amazon.
Currently, the average price of an e-book is $14.99.  However, now that the United States made the decision to sue top publishers and Apple on price-fixing charges, that number is bound to decrease. 

The Internet retailer Amazon is now able to decide how much an e-book will cost and announced plans to decrease prices to $9.99,...

Jim Boeheim and Syracuse University have been sued for defamation in the New York Supreme Court regarding their treatment of allegations by Bobby Davis and Mike Lang against former associate head coach Bernie Fine.

Gloria Allred, a longtime civil rights attorney, announced Tuesday that she has filed a defamation suit against Syracuse University and men's basketball head coach Jim Boeheim on behalf of former ball boys Bobby Davis and his step-brother Mike Lang in New York State Supreme Court.

NFL, Dallas Cowboys sued over Super Bowl tickets

Fans forced to give up seats for big game demanding money, travel expenses back.

Although the NFL has already promised money, tickets, and merchandise to the more than 400 fans who were displaced before last Sunday's Super Bowl XLV, it might not be enough, ESPN reports.

A Los Angeles law firm is representing 1,000 fans in a class action lawsuit against the NFL, the Dallas Cowboys and owner Jerry Jones. The suit seeks repayment for ticket costs and travel expenses in the amount of $5 million.

J-E Superintendent's resignation and severance agreement illegal, says lawsuit

A group of taxpayers suing the Jordan-Elbridge School District say a clique of board members forced Superintendent Marilyn Dominick to resign.

Local taxpayers opposing the resignation of the Jordan-Elbridge School District Superintendent have brought charges against the school board to state Supreme Court. The Article 78 legal action asks the court to restore Superintendent Marilyn Dominick's old contract, which would end June 2012.

The Obama administration announced its new initiative to help troubled homeowners on Friday.  This could lead to the refinancing of millions of homes with government-backed mortgages and lower payments.  This plan is meant to temporarily reduce housing payments for the people who are currently unemployed and looking for a job.

Onondaga County deputy wins $1 lawsuit

The Post Standard reports an Onondaga County sheriff was the victim of a racially hostile environment at work for seven years, ending in 2004. The federal jury ruled Odell Willis was subjected to racial harrassment at his work in the Justice Center jail but suffered no damages from the harassment. Under federal court rules nominal damages have to be rewarded if the jury says the victim has been wronged. The jury rewarded Willis $1.
