Former chief of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn was released on bail on Monday, after eight hours of questions,  and handed preliminary charges for involvement in a high-profile pimping ring.  According to CNN, in just the past year, Strauss-Kahn has seen the disintegration of his reputation due to links with several sex allegations.

Onondaga County DA William Fitzpatrick said there was enough evidence to charge the former associate head coach when the accusers first revealed their story.

On Tuesday morning Onondaga County District Attorney William Fitzpatrick spent almost an hour addressing members of the local and national media regarding his office’s investigation into sexual abuse allegations aimed at former Syracuse University associate head men’s basketball coach, Bernie Fine.

Baldwinsville police conclude investigation on bus driver

Baldwinsville bus driver was texting, no charges filed.

The Baldwinsville Police Department have wrapped up their investigation of a school bus driver who was accused of texting while driving students, according to WSYR-News Channel 9.

Police concluded that the driver was reading texts while the bus was in motion. Students were also inside of the bus at the time.

A lockdown is lifted after almost 300 schools in Broward County in Florida after a local radio station received a phone call just after 8:30 a.m. from a woman warning officials that her husband was preparing to open fire on one of the schools.

Thousands of students were forced to stay in their school until the threat was eliminated. Officials say they did not want to take any chances.

Inmates and employees at prisons exposed to toxic metals

Inmates and employees at 10 federal prisons were exposed to toxic metals and hazardous substances. A report said unspecified amounts of that waste were shipped overseas, possibly to underdeveloped countries.

A report issued last week by the Office of the Inspector General said unspecified amounts of waste were shipped overseas after being processed in 10 federal prisons. The New York Times says that inmates and employees at 10 of these prisons were exposed to toxic metals and hazardous substances while processing that waste for recycling. 

Police investigating threatening package sent to congressman

Plus, the mother of a sex abuse victim accuses the pope of lying and the newest St. John's coaching candidate turns down position.

A letter containing suspicious white powder was sent to Congressman Anthony Weiner's local office Thursday, syracuse.com reports. The letter regarded Weiner's support of the national health care bill passed earlier in the week.

The NYPD was immediately notified and evacuated the office. HazMat teams decontaminated nine employees as a precaution.
