According to a CNN.com report an Oklahoma Elementary School student has died from bacterial meningitis this Thursday, and two other students are hospitalized with the illness.

A statement from Oologah Talala Emergency Medical Services says health department officials are at Oologah Lower Elementary School.  Oologah Talala School Superintendent Rick Thomas asked parents to remain calm until the health department says what actions should be taken.

SU sophomore Alicia Aiello only grew stronger after being diagnosed with a disease that attacked her intestines and colon.

It was summertime. I was 14 years old, and my life was about to change forever.

Instead of doing normal summertime things, like riding a bike or going swimming, I had crippling stomach pains. After a week, the first blast of pain subsided, only to come back with a vengeance.

I stopped eating — anything I ate increased the pain — and lost 10 pounds. My mom took me to my doctor, who said I was infected with Giardia Iamblia, a germ often found in public pools. That was wrong.

H1N1 concerns and attention result in largest Syracuse campus clinic ever.

UPDATE: The next flu clinic is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 15. at Flanagan Gymnasium, beginning at noon until the vaccine is gone. Students should bring their student I.D. and wear loose clothing that allows their upper arm to be exposed.

“Ooooww!” Bryce Shulman yelled as the nurse pulled the needle out of his arm. 

Nearly 150 students lining the basketball court looked over at the 6-foot-tall, third-year film major.

“Just kidding,” Shulman said, smiling to the crowd.
