Trailer moving 300-ton gas generator gets help from 40 workers, police to pass under highway.

This morning, a 144-wheeled trailer moving 300-ton gas turbine generator needed special care passing under Interstate 81, according to The Post-Standard.

The trailer from Equipment Express Inc. in Ayr, Ontario was on its way to a storage facility on Brighton Avenue. However, It got into a sticky situation when it tried to pass under I-81 and the trailer was too tall to fit under the bridge.

After 14 months of passionate and exhaustive debate and negotiations, the health care bill finally passed the House of Representatives late Sunday night. President Obama will sign a $875 billion health care reform bill into law at the White House on Tuesday, according to CNN. The bill was passed with a 219-212 vote. All Republicans and some Democrats voted against it . The opponents of the bill aren't backing down. "I believe the will of the people is reflected sooner or later in the makeup of the government, " McCain said, according to the ABC news.

Several local contractors say the demolition of the building by Interstate 81 could be a nightmare. Contractors are scheduled to submit their bids today to demolish a building that has closed the highway for two weeks. One local contractor, Welch & Sons, says it will not be submitting a bid. 

“If a job starts bad, it’s going to end bad, and this one has started bad,” Charlie Welch, who owns the company, said. “Whoever gets that job, I say good luck to them.”

Road closure gates at four northern Oswego County entrances to Interstate 81 have been installed to block traffic from entering during emergencies. The gates will keep drivers off the roads so emergency responders can get through.

The new Navy ship, USS New York, salutes the victims of 9/11

The USS New York Navy assault ship pulled into its namesake city today honoring the victims of 9/11.  A 21-gun salute near the site of the 2001 terrorist attack saluted the ship as it arrived. First responders, families of September 11 victims and the public gathered Monday to see this incredible site.
