Prices at the pumps rise again

American consumers will be paying more at the pump this winter, even as crude oil prices drop.

American consumers will be paying more for household heat this winter according to the Labor Department. Diesel and home heating oil costs rose in October along with an increase of 9.8 percent in retail gas prices, according to the Associated Press.

Doubters fuel James as he begins his first preseason with the Miami Heat.

The preseason has begun for LeBron James and the Miami Heat, and it’s finally time for James to get back on the court after being called a quitter, having his competitive nature questioned and hearing others say he made a bad business decision.

"He is a motivated player right now," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said, according to ESPN.com.

Central New York is practically melting from the suffocating summer temperatures. NewsChannel 9 WSYR is predicting 95-degree temperatures for the next two days -- record-breaking heat Syracuse isn't used to seeing. 

If campus feels like a desert, Syracuse University is trying to assuage the potentially dangerous heat.

Cost of heat will decrease this winter

Two upstate utility companies announced today that their customers will pay less for heat this winter. The typical consumer will see their heating bill decrease by 12.8%.

Israeli police on alert as Jews gather to celebrate the holiday of Sukkot

Palestinians rioted after Israeli police forbid Muslims from one of Jerusalem's holiest sites.

According to CNN.com, Israeli police were on alert at Jerusalem’s Temple Mount in fear of another Palestinian riot.

About 30,000 Jews gathered at the Western Wall, adjacent to Temple Mount to celebrate Sukkot; a harvest festival.  Police closed the mount to Muslims to minimize any fear of violence. In return, Palestinians rioted and threw stoned and bottles at police forces.  Ten Palestinian youths were arrested after they threw rocks at Orthodox Jews.
