The Orange are set to face the Butler Bulldogs in their sweet 16 matchup in Salt Lake City, according to ESPN.com.  The game time is at 7:07 p.m.  The Orange will be without Center Arinze Onuaku for the third straight game.  Butler currently holds the nations longest winning streak at 22 consecutive games.

The future Pope Benedict XVI and other top Vatican officials failed to defrock an American priest who molested deaf boys.

The Reverend Lawrence Murphy sexually abused more than 200 boys from the 1950s through the 1970s at the St. John's School for the Deaf in Wisconsin.

Father Murphy was never disciplined, and died in 1998.

Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, the future Pope, granted Murphy leniency.

According to CNN, Florida’s attorney general Bill McCollum announced today that his state will be joined by nine others in plans to file a lawsuit challenging the bill’s constitutionality. The provision that required people to purchase health insurance is what McCollum says will be the main target of the lawsuit.

New York claims its 27th title

The Yankees beat the Phillies last night 7-3 to win the World Series.  Hideki Matsui received the World Series MVP for his 6 RBI performance last night. New York has won 27 World Series titles, the most in the majors, but hadn't won the Series since their 2000 campaign.  This is captain Derek Jeter's 5th championship.  Manager Joe Girardi has won as a player and now as a manager.

Democrats’ are showing concern over abortion legislation in proposed health-care bill.

The House is moving towards a vote this week on health-care legislation, reports the Washington Post. House leaders negotiated on Monday with Democrats concerned about abortion provisions on public funding of abortions.  The Washington Post reports that the talks over abortion could be critical in the outcome of the $894 billion health-care bill.

Senator Schumer is hoping to pass legislation in memory of Erin Maxwell while a New York State Senator looks to do something similar.

Senator Charles Schumer formally announced today during a press conference his idea for a bill entitled "Erin's Law", according to Syracuse.com. Sales of existing homes are at the highest level since 2007

Sales of existing homes in the United States rose to their highest level in two years, cnn.com reports. In September, sales of previously owned homes jumped 9.4%, with most of the sales going to first time buyers. First time buyers purchased roughly 45% of the new homes in the last year.

The Pompey resident somehow suffered no life-threatening injuries.

Rescuers had to use chain saws and a helicopter to help a Pompey man who fell off a cliff on Bald Mountain Tuesday afternoon, according to Syracuse.com. 

Wesley Rennie, 67, was hiking with a friend in the Adirondack Mountains when he fell from about halfway down the mountain on a steep slope with many trees and large rocks.

New poll shows dramatic change in recent weeks

According to the latest Associated Press – GfK poll, the American public is split evenly – with 40% in favor and 40% opposed – on federal health care legislation. 

This comes just weeks after a September poll reported that 49% of Americans opposed congressional health care proposals while just 34% supported them.
