Two dead and 13 hurt in a New Orleans Halloween shooting

Two people and 13 others were injured during a shooting early Tuesday morning in New Orleans. The shootings were in four separate occasions throughout the city, including one on Bourbon Street where many were celebrating Halloween.

"We have made on arrest at this point," police spokesman officer Garry Flot told the Associated Press. He also noted none of the incidents were related.

States ranging from Maryland to Maine were hit with a snowstorm Saturday; a rare weather forecast for Halloween weekend

People across New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and other northeastern areas don’t often expect large snowstorms in October, but this Halloween weekend’s unusual storm left some areas with up to 30 inches of snow, the Washington Post reports. The heavy snow weighed down tree branches that hadn’t shed their leaves yet, causing large limbs to fall.

Halloween is upon us, and what better way to spend a lazy afternoon than curled up on the couch with warm apple cider and popcorn to watch some of the greatest Halloween movies and TV shows of all time.

So, we compiled a list of our favorites –- the good, bad and downright corny –- and used them as inspiration to create our own Halloween film.

A Syracuse teenager who was shot while trick-or-treating is still in critical condition.

Savon Ellick-Sanders, 15, remains in critical condition at Upstate University Hospital, after he was shot while trick-or-treating with a group of friends on Halloween, reports the Post-Standard.

Just in time for Halloween, a list of things to do with your body postmortem, according to CNN. Besides the usual organ and tissue donations, CNN recommends donating your body to medical students learning how to dissect, becoming part of the traveling Body Worlds exhibit, or participating in "the body farm," which studies bodies as they decay. You can even become a crash test cadaver.

Dressed as Britney Spears with a platinum blond wig and glow-light breasts, Syracuse University senior Dave Mountain greeted costumed partygoers at his three-floor Halloween party Saturday night.

Britney Spears was just the beginning. 

Hundreds of Syracuse University students flocked to off-campus parties on Saturday to be a part of what has become a widely celebrated college tradition: Halloween weekend.

Commentary: A holiday packed with fear, candy-binging and near-nakedness doesn't appeal to everyone.

I can only remember trick-or-treating once as a kid.

My family is fairly religious, so we didn't really do the whole dress-up-as-goblins-and-ask-for-candy thing. 

I do remember, however, many harvest parties, dressing up as Indians or Bible characters or vegetables. 

I was broccoli. 

As I have never really been a big celebrator of Halloween, I've often wondered what people enjoy so much about it.

Hordes of the living dead descended upon Armory Square on Oct. 17, looking like they just pulled themselves from their graves.

Limping, dragging their limbs and eating ‘flesh’, zombies made their way from bar to bar in downtown Syracuse’s first ever “Zombie Walk” sponsored by local radio station 95X.
