Cory Booker rescues neighbor trapped in a burning building.

Cory Booker, the mayor of Newark not afraid of lending his constituents a helping hand, can take a sigh of relief after he ran into a burning building and helped save his neighbor.

Late Thursday night, Booker was walking back to his home with two members of his security detail when he spotted a fire on the second floor of his neighbor's building.

Firefighters took over an hour to extinguish a deadly fire that broke out Tuesday night

A fire broke out at 11 p.m. in Comayagua, Honduras. The prison is about an hour from Honduras' capital, Tegucigalpa, and was holding about 800 prisoners at the time of the fire, according to a senior official at the Attorney General's Office, Danelia Ferrera. 

359 inmates are confirmed dead, and around 100 are still unaccounted for. It is not clear whether the blaze was an accidental short-circuit in the electrical system, or an inmate deliberately lit a mattress on fire.

Fire in Miami International Airport delays, cancels 83 flights on Thursday.

A fire was started Wednesday in Miami International Airport when a tank caught fire in an area where fuel is kept, according to CNN.  The enormous fire sent more than 30 fire crews to the scene and had the flames under control by roughly 1:30 a.m.

17-year-old pleads guilty to Marsellus Casket arson.

SYRACUSE, NY -- The teenager responsible for setting the Marsellus Casket Company on fire was sentenced today at Onondaga County Court, according to News Channel 9.

Tyler Emm, 17, will face two to six years in prison after admitting he started the fire that destroyed the old Marsellus Casket Warehouse last September.

Parents, one child survive.

While Dad was napping and Mom was milking cows, seven children perished in a farmhouse fire, said Pennsylvania state police. The children, who ranged in ages from 7 months to 11 years, died last night when the fire took over the family's two-story house. The family lives in Loysville, a town about 25 miles outside of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The parents and one other child survived, as they were outside the house at the time of the fire.

Not enough crews are available to keep firefighters.

The Elbridge village board has declared a state of emergency for the Elbridge Fire Department, YNN reports. The board says that safety of both the residents and firefighters is at stake.

Although the department has more than 40 members, recently only six to eight have been responding to alarms. Firefighters say that puts them in an unsafe situation.

Concerned neighbor saves mother and child.

PORTLAND, OR -- Imagine leaving your home in the morning, coffee in hand ready for work. Then you see your neighboring apartment building on fire. This was the case for Jeff Bryant of Portland, Oregon, according to CNN.

Bryant said he wasn't trying to be a hero, he was just doing what he felt was the right thing -- helping his neighbors.

Suspected milk pump malfunction kills barn full of animals.

A barn fire in LaFargeville killed 150 dairy cows, according to The Post-Standard. The fire started around 8:30 last night at the barn owned by Danny and Debbie Davis, authorities said. Firefighters from more than a dozen departments arrived, putting out the flames that destroyed the 276-foot-long metal siding barn.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but family members believe a milk pump may have caused the fire.

A fire in Northern Israel killed over twenty people while injuring another twenty.

A forest fire in northern Israel that started early Thursday morning claimed over 20 lives, according to CNN. The fire occurred near Haifa, and burned thousands of acres of the Carmel Forest region. The fire injured at least 25 other people.
