Lucas Papademos is former vice president of European Central Bank

In a ceremony that also inducted his ministers, Lucas Papademos, former vice president of the European Central Bank, was sworn in today as the new prime minister of Greece. The ceremony was attended by the president and the head of the Greek Orthodox Church and the new government is expected to be handed a vote of confidence from parliament soon.

New plan hopes to solve economic problems in Greece

Early this morning, European Union leaders announced a new economic plan to help reduce the debt crisis that they are facing, reported The New York Times. The announcement came from a conference in Brussels after EU leaders won an agreement with banks to take a fifty percent loss on the value their Greek debt.

The Onondaga County Legislature’s Ways and Means Committee approved a proposal to allow Off-Track Betting during a meeting earlier this morning. The vote passed by a margin of 4-2, with one abstention.

"The county is diving into a cesspool of vices," Democrat Mark Stanczyk, said. Cnycentral.com reports lawmakers argued over whether the county should allow gambling.
