It's official, the Atlantic Coast Conference officially accepted the applications Syracuse University and the University of Pittsburgh Sunday morning.
The Atlantic Coast Conference confirmed during a teleconference Sunday what everyone in the country already assumed, Syracuse and Pittsburgh are joining the conference. The most telling note to take away from the announcement, though, is that the ACC and both schools said they intend to honor their contractual commitments to the Big East Conference, which include staying in the conference 27 months after notifying the league of a move.

Ohio State's Jared Sullinger, BYU's Jimmer Fredette, Duke's Nolan Smith and UConn's Kemba Walker have all been named as the finalists for the Naismith Player of the Year award, according to Sporting News. The award is given out annually to the best player of the year in college basketball.
All four players have been named as All-American's and are still competing in the 2011 NCAA Tournament.

As the clock struck midnight, Cinderella's time was up. Butler fell to Duke 61-59 in the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. Butler played competitively all night long, taking the game to the final seconds when a Gordon Heyward half-court rimmed out. Duke's top three scorers, Kyle Singler, Nolan Smith and Jon Scheyer accounted for 47 of Duke's 61 points.

The federal government would like to fine Toyota $16.375 million because of the company's recent recalls. Toyota recalled over 2.3 million vehicles with a faulty accelerator pedals. The government plans on giving Toyota the largest civil fine allowed under the Tread Act after Toyota failed to notify the government when it learned vehicle problems were occurring worldwide. The fine, if imposed, would be the largest civil penalty the government has ever made on a car company. Toyota has two weeks to accept or fight this fine.

Fifth-ranked Cincinnati forced two Syracuse turnovers in the red zone Saturday afternoon, piling up 422 yards of offense on the way to a 28-7 win.
High-powered Cincinnati made more plays than Syracuse on Saturday, resulting in another Big East victory for the Bearcats (8-0, 4-0 Big East). The Orange fall to 3-5 overall and remain winless in the Big East (0-3).

Early Wednesday night, 21-year-old musician and Duke University student Mike Posner strolled leisurely into the Schine Underground. Scheduled to perform two hours later and still appearing tired from his flight, Posner sat down to relax after a routine sound check.
“Today’s a really special day because my new CD just came out,” Posner said. “It leaked a day early, so I’ll be singing several songs from that CD I’ve never sung before.”
