The man elected for the office of New York Governor, Andrew Cuomo, is beginning his transition into power Tuesday, by meeting with the current Governor of the state, David Paterson. According to News Channel 9, the two had a meeting in New York City that day, in which they talked mostly about the state’s finances.

Governor David Paterson and U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood announced today that Syracuse will receive $300,000 to crack down on drivers using cell phones. New York Governor David Paterson says the state can't afford $2.1 billion in school aid. The state was scheduled to start making payments to schools this Wednesday but is not legally required to pay them until June 1. Paterson says the state will have the money by then.
"Plummeting revenues and record deficits have once again forced me to take extraordinary cash-management actions in order to ensure the continued orderly operation of our government," Paterson said.

Google decided to close its Internet search engine in China on Monday. Chinese Google users will now be directed to the uncensored Hong Kong version of the site which may get blocked on the mainland.

After adding in overtime and extra pay, Dr.Stephen Onesti, a doctor at the Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, made $958,047 in 2009 and came out on top of the state almost 300-thousand employees. 40 other Downstate Medical employees were among the top 50 wage-earners in the state. As for Governor Paterson? There are 900 other state employees who made more than his $178,509 last year. Paterson isn't even the highest paid in the state's executive branch.
