NYC-based Buglisi Dance Theatre partners with Syracuse community members to commemorate victims of terror
In the midst of tailgating crowds and barbeque smoke before Friday’s football game, approximately 65 dancers, clad in white, slowly made their way in winding lines from the Newhouse plaza through the Lockerbie memorial to the steps of Hendricks chapel.

With a flood of patterned blue and purple lights, the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company began to weave magic on the stage with “North Star,” the first performance of the night. The New York City based modern dance company performed on Nov. 11, at the Goldstein Auditorium.
A Korean music and dance concert drew a large crowd of students to Grant Auditorium on Tuesday night. Some of the students obviously don’t frequent folk concerts – a few even had their laptops and cell phones out – but the pieces in this Department of Ethnomusicology-sponsored performance were stunning enough to halt many audience members mid-text.

Two-time Oscar nominee John Malkovich is scheduled to spend his summer in Syracuse filming a movie called "Hotel Syracuse", according to Syracuse University. The film tells the story of a famous math professor who stays in Hotel Syracuse during an international math conference. During his stay, he comes face to face with the ghosts that haunt the hotel property.

Who: La Familia de la Salsa began in 2004 as a Salsa/Rueda demo team. It has now grown to one of the largest Latin dance organizations in Upstate New York.
What: La Familia offers classes Monday-Friday at different locations throughout the Syracuse area. Lessons are $60 for a six week series or $50 dollars for full-time students with school ID. Private lessons are available by appointment.
Upstate New York Ballet's "Dracula" is a performance full of manic grace.
“Dracula” opens with Jonathan Harker (Marco Abdelnor) in a nightmare, surrounded by ghosts and demons. As Jonathan writhes in terror on the bed, the corps de ballet surrounds him, frantically working their arms and hands in and out above him. Occasionally, individual dancers break away from the corps to perform a solo of pirouettes and extensions, or the entire corps leaves Jonathan’s bed to cover the stage in chaotic movement.
