A majority decision win over his rival Juan Manuel Marquez sparks controversy

Manny Pacquiao keeps his WBO welterweight title belt after a majority decision over Juan Manuel Marquez, which drew an angry reaction from fans. ESPN says spectators from the sellout crowd at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas threw cans and bottles at the ring while Pacquiao celebrated. But the champion didn’t seem to be phased.

High school student cites religious reasons.

After a 35-4 season, wrestler Joel Northrup from Iowa's Linn-Mar High School had a shot at nabbing an Iowa wrestling championship this season but he's given it up before his first state tournament match.

Northrup told ESPN his religious beliefs won’t allow him to wrestle Cassy Herkelman, a freshman from Cedar Falls, Iowa. He issued a statement that said while he had "tremendous respect" for Herkelman's achievements, he couldn't wrestle her.

Wednesday night's school board meeting was dominated by criticism of board members and administrators.

The controversy rocking the school district continued last night as residents called for members of the Jordan-Elbridge school board to resign.

According to The Post-Standard, speakers at the board meeting criticized the way the board was handling school affairs. During the hour-long meeting, residents also frequently criticized board members and administrators personally. Some residents said they feel as if the board has lost the confidence of the community.

Student rapper Delirium breaks down the controversy in a new video.

The controversy surrounding graduation speaker Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, is generating so much buzz you could write a song about it. That's what one SU student rapper did.

Busting rhymes along Marshall Street and in front of the Hall of Languages, Delirium puts a lyrical spin on commencement. Check out the video below.

With more than 3,000 in attendance, the new Mayfest in Walnut Park prevailed, but the Euclid Avenue party lingers on.

Free food and free beer was too much for students to resist during this year’s Mayfest celebration.  

More than 3,000 students showed up in Walnut Park to take advantage of the Syracuse University sponsored Mayfest party on Friday afternoon.  Euclid Avenue, in contrast, remained eerily quiet as a few students lounged outside their houses, quietly playing music, watching Syracuse City Police drive by.

The healthcare debate could reach critical mass today.  Democrats and Republicans will meet today with President Obama to hear his outline on a $1 trillion healthcare proposal, all of this according to cnn.com.  While Democrats feel that this could be potentially productive and beneficial, Republicans are retorting that it is just another photo opportunity for Obama that won't yield any compromise.
