Two Penn State officials step down amid sex abuse accusations

Two top Penn State officials charged with covering up allegations of an explosive child-sex abuse scandal related to former defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky vacated their positions Sunday after an emergency meeting of the university's Board of Trustees.

Syracuse University's football team has a strong group of fullbacks going into spring training.

This time last year, Syracuse University only had one true fullback on its roster. This year, it has five. Carl Cutler was moved from playing tight end in the 2009 season to being the only fullback for the 2010 season.

After Cutler tore an ACL, SU head coach Doug Marrone needed to think quickly. Former linebackers Adam Harried and Shane Kimmel, as well as walk-on Robert Nieves, were used as SU’s fullbacks. Soon after, a fullback who was a junior college transfer, Tombe Kose, joined the team.

Cam Newton is the Heisman front runner this year but if he wins will he be able to keep the trophy?

Cam Newton is the starting quarterback for Auburn. He is an athlete with a troubled past, who got a second chance at Auburn. Newton looked to be taking great advantage of that chance by leading his team to being number 2 in the BCS rankings and the front runner for the Heisman trophy, which is given to the most outstanding college football player.

The plan calls for $56 million and will add 5,000 seats.

University of Nebraska officials announced Friday that the football stadium will add about 5,000 seats to Memorial Stadium as well as additional luxury suites.  The expansion would be completed by the start of the 2013 football season, according to ESPN.

Star running back Delone Carter pleaded guilty to charges of second degree harassment.

Syracuse running back Delone Carter pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of second degree harassment, according to CNYcentral.com.  Carter was sentenced on a conditional charge, meaning if he stays out of trouble, the charges will be dropped.

The new Navy ship, USS New York, salutes the victims of 9/11

The USS New York Navy assault ship pulled into its namesake city today honoring the victims of 9/11.  A 21-gun salute near the site of the 2001 terrorist attack saluted the ship as it arrived. First responders, families of September 11 victims and the public gathered Monday to see this incredible site.

The new Navy ship was built using more than seven and a half tons of steel from the World Trade Centers.  It was actually scheduled to be built before the terrorist attacks, but a year later an announcement came saying the ship would be named in honor of New York City and...

With all eyes on the backup quarterbacks coming into Saturday’s Big East football game between fifth-ranked Cincinnati and Syracuse, the Bearcats rode the plays of its second-string signal caller, Zach Collaros, to a 28-7 victory in the Dome before an announced Halloween attendance of 33,802 on Saturday afternoon.

Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone preaches preparation, expecting each Orange player to be ready to perform at all times.  Saturday afternoon against Akron, Marrone found out if his players were listening.

Man smashes television while children watch cartoons, faces up to years in prison.

According to Syracuse.com, Seneca Falls Police arrested Junior A. DeOliveira for criminal mischief and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child.


Police said that DeOliveira, 25, smashed a television screen with a hammer while three children were watching cartoons on October 5.


DeOliveria was arraigned and sent to the Seneca Country Correctional Facility. Bail was set at $20,000.
